Hephzibah Treatment Centre was born from one family's journey with addiction — and a belief that everyone deserves a place to heal.
Our story
Born from a family's own journey
Hephzibah Treatment Centre was founded by Cynthia Martin, whose calling to this work was shaped by watching her own father struggle with alcoholism. She knows first-hand that addiction never affects just one person — it touches every member of a family.
Located at Nubuamis Hills in Brakwater, on the peaceful outskirts of Windhoek, the centre was created as a place where people who feel lost and wounded can find rest, structure and people who genuinely care. We focus on stress, alcohol and drug abuse, and the mental health challenges that so often travel with them.
Today, Hephzibah is a verified treatment centre registered with the Namibian Ministry of Health and Social Services, welcoming young people from 15 years old as well as adults.
It's a nurturing haven for the lost and wounded … turned into a home for healing and restoring affected people.
The meaning of our name
“My delight is in her”
Hephzibah is a Hebrew name found in Isaiah 62:4, where a people once called “Forsaken” and “Desolate” are given a new name: Hephzibah — my delight is in her.
That is the heart of what we do. Addiction can leave people feeling forsaken, ashamed and written off. At Hephzibah, every person is welcomed as someone of worth, with a future worth fighting for.
Our sunflower reflects the same hope: a flower that always turns toward the light.
